How to remove different types of stain
Grease stains should be sprinkled with cornstarch and allowed to soak for a few minutes before brushing away and washing.
When it comes to rust stains, using a cotton ball soaked in vinegar, blot the stain. Apply a thin layer of salt to the stain and rub it into the vinegar and fabric. Lay the fabric out in direct sunlight until the stain fades, after which you can wash out the stain.
Ink is a difficult stain to remove; in fact, not all ink stains can be removed. However, you can try spraying them with hair spray and rubbing them with vinegar.
Dye is how we get color into the fabric, which is why dye stains caused by washing dyed clothes with other colors can be difficult to remove. To remove these stains, soak the affected clothing in cool water mixed with oxygenized non-chlorine bleach according to package directions for eight hours. Repeat as often as required, and wash and dry the clothes like you would typically do when the stain is gone.
To remove egg and dairy stains, apply this method for the most effective results. These organic protein stains must be removed differently because applying warm or hot water before the stain is removed can effectively cook the proteins, causing the stain to discolor. You must first scrape or brush away any crusts on the garment if the stain has dried up and formed a crust. Then soak it in cool water with an enzyme presoak for five to 30 minutes, repeating with water as required. If the stain has already become discolored, try washing it with a bleach product that is safe for the fabric’s color.
Harden adhesive materials such as gum or tape with ice or cold water on the sticky side and scrape gently with a dull knife. Apply pre-wash stain remover, then rinse as usual. Fruit juice stains can be removed with fabric-safe bleach, while coffee and tea stains can be removed with vinegar. Allow the stain to sit for 20 minutes after diluting it with running water. Apply an enzymatic laundry detergent to the stain, covering the stain completely. Wash the garment at the hottest temperature suitable for the fabric without cleaning the detergent off the fabric. Salt and glycerin should suffice for alcoholic beverages.
When dealing with blood stains, gently rubbing the blood stain with your fingers will remove as much blood from the fabric as possible. When the water starts to turn pink, replace all the collected water and continue until the water ceases to turn pink. Rinse the garment thoroughly and apply an enzymatic cleanser, allowing it to sit for some time before washing. A tiny amount of hydrogen peroxide is also worth a shot, but this may discolor some fabrics, so test it out first and make sure you’re satisfied with the results.
